Teenage kicks.

Or, Life Lessons, 1-never give keys of parent's house to friends.

OOoo, I laughed up tea when I read this a while ago. I can imagine the panic this young one must have felt, feel the sheer weight of 'what have I done' she must have suffered. As frequent bouts with TLGK have proven, sometimes logic is not a teenager's strong point.
Of course that's nothing to what her parents must have felt, I can only imagine the guantlet of emotions they ran through. I wonder will that kid be getting any pocket money for the rest of her teenage years.

Observe, from today's SUN...

THE schoolgirl whose £1million home was trashed by partying teenagers sent desperate text-style messages for the mayhem to stop.
Frantic Camilla Davies, 14 — who lent pals a key while she was away with her parents — used her computer because she had forgotten her mobile phone.

One message to a chum on internet site MySpace begged for details of the rampage, pleading: “Tell me what the f*** has happened.”

At one point she threatened to call the police — fearing her stepdad’s £50,000 silver 730 BMW car and her mum’s gold Chrysler would also be wrecked.

As the full horror of the trail of damage at the seven-bedroom mansion dawned, she declared: “i wont b in trub cos like its nt my fault.”

But she then added ruefully: “i might have to sleepo at yours, this is too much to handle.”

Her furious stepdad Robert Bowles — a 45-year-old property company director — and mum Elfrid cut short the family’s trip to London after neighbours in Harrogate, North Yorks, phoned police the next morning.

The Sun told yesterday how the family faced a £15,000 bill for redecorating and replacing stolen TVs, DVD players and jewellery.

Holes were said to have been smashed in walls, bleach spilt and furniture wrecked after Camilla’s pals held a party — and more than 100 gatecrashers turned up. Cash was also nicked.

Camilla’s FIRST message to her chum showed she was in jokey mood hours after secretly handing over the key.

The public school pupil wrote to the pal, who was in touch with the partygoers: “how was my house? haha what happened? is everything a messs?”

She was told there was “bad news”. As the evening wore on Camilla became increasingly frustrated — and her messages more urgent.

As the youngster remained in the doghouse yesterday, her family was tightlipped.

Police confirmed they were hunting two men who chased away the last few partygoers — and who are feared to have then ransacked the house.

A spokesman said: “We are still trying to identify who was at the party.”

Eep!

Did you ever do something as a teenager you instantly regretted it?

The little bitch!
Teenagers just do not care about other people's belongings. Those poor parents.
We're unlikely to have a holiday this summer because the teens won't come and I won't leave them home alone. I don't want to return home to a wrecked house. It's not my lot, it's the grapevine and the hoards who would turn up to the "free" house. Anyone like to house-sit for me?

Mairéad, what to you mean 'won't come'? Unless they're paying the mortgage or living in their own flats who says they have a choice?

Teenagers can be so horrible, but you know, I was not like that one bit. My friends and I all tried to act 25 and be as adult as possible. I never hung out with whiny selfish bitches like that. The problem with us was we were pretentious as hell.

If I had destroyed my mother's home...well I'd either be dead now or typing this with a straw. Not in a million years would I even have considered it.

A girl I knew in secondary school had a huge party while her mother was out of town. The whole school and every 16 year old Limerick turned up, and we all got atrociously drunk. The place was a disaster zone. Every parent heard about it and the school found out and entire 5 and 6th years were summoned together and given a lecture by our headmaster.

Halcyon days!

Many's the teenage house party I attended. I usually helped clean up though. My speciality was red wine stains. Vomit - not so much.

You were like me Sam, I always treated other folk's homes with the deepest of respect. I went to a party in Arklow when I was seventeen and there was as beautiful glass fronted dresser there- you know the type that holds the good plates- and somehow during the party it got smashed. I had to leave, even though I hadn't done it, the guilt was too much.

Let me add in the above described situation - I did not one iota of damage. I was too busy throwing up in the bushes outside.

They WON'T come! I can hardly lift them up and strap them in to the airplane seat! My teens are 18 and 16. Mostly though, they'd moan so much that the holiday would be just too painful. I might as well burn the money in the grate!

Ahh Mairead that’s terrible, there obviously boys. Why don't you pick....., you know that member of the family, everyone has one, that your kids absolutely despise, the one that you can just about stand yourself and get them to mind them. They'll be at home driven mental and you and your hubby will be baking your ass in peace and quiet, happy in the knowledge the kids are being tortured yet your home will be safe upon your return.

He he and don’t leave any pocket money ah he he

But wouldn't the 18 year old one be old enough and responsible to mind them? Or am I barking mad?

I like nonny meeces idea too, have someone drop in on them regularly to keep them on their toes. Seems a shame that you miss out on a bit of a break.

Crikey, I bet it's not one of those things that they will comiserate to each other, 'Oh, we'll laugh about this in twenty years time.' I imagine she'll still be grounded in twenty years time.

There probably isn't an adult here that hasn't been frightfully drunk as a teenager, it seems to be a rite of passage.
Laughykate, gounnding is too good for her. I'd show her the brochure for the military school she would be attending in Septmeber.

I went to a teenage house party once and someone fed washing powder to the dozen or so tropical fish. Not one survived.

I once invited 4 of my friends over while my dad was out of town. I simply said to the four of them, "Hey, why don't you come over after Barnwarming (think homecoming for the agricultural group) and we'll watch a movie or something." What they heard was, "Hey, why don't you invite everyone you run in to for the rest of the evening and tell them to invite everyone they know, too."
The last time I counted, there were 76 people in my house. They drank the 7 cases of beer my dad had just bought for a party HE was planning. They scratched the hardwood floors. They put beer bottles in the toilet tanks. They drove all over the yard. A pair of the boys decided to have a pretty good scrap outside (thank the gods it wasn't in the house) and I had to wash blood off the siding the next morning. All-in-all it was one of the biggest disasters of my teenage career. With the help of a couple of wonderful friends, though, I was able to have it cleaned up, beer replaced and didn't get in trouble for anything except the tire tracks in the front yard.

Ah yes, we adults call that teenspeak. Clearly you were too smart and grown up a youth to be able to tune into its frequency.

Yes - completely mad FMC! 'Tisn't the 18 year old that's the problem 'tis the gang who would hear we were away. That happened to my 20 year old niece - they all just landed up.
Hi Anonymous! Sounds like a plan but I'd be more afraid of THAT relative trashing the place than the kids! Not two boys either. the 16 year old is a girl and madly in love, so........ Jesus, this responsible parenthood is a pain!
