Nasty Bitch attacks Cat.

This is Nicola Collinson, the charming young woman who sent a video to friends of her chasing, punching and drop-kicking a kitten like a rugby ball. She and a friend filmed their fun on a mobile and sent the video to friends. Hilarious.
Yesterday she was banned for life from keeping animals.
Nicola 21, pleaded guilty earlier this month to causing unnecessary suffering to the animal. She was sentenced at Gosforth Magistrates' Court in Newcastle to a 12-month community and supervision order, and a six-month curfew from 7am to 7pm, on top of the lifetime ban. OH, and she had to pay £420 to the RSPCA.

There's nothing I like less than cruelty. There's no need for it in any walk of life. Not with children, or animals or the elderly or anyone for that matter. If you don't like someone avoid them, there's no need to make their life a misery. How any woman could be cruel to an innocent animal is beyond my ken, how punching and kicking something that cannot defend itself and call it 'fun' is incomprehensible. Someone day this 'person' will have children, if she hasn't already, I don't even want to think what 'fun' she might have with them.
I will never understand wanton cruelty and I'm really glad of that. Because if I did I think there would be something wrong with me.

Read disgustedly in the Mail.

A lack of respect for life and a penchant for sadism is all too easily transferrable aganist animals to humans.
I say let some tigers loose on her.

Reminds me of the story a few years back of some wankers breaking into Belfast zoo at night and throwing live penguins into the lion enclosure. The wee c*nts were never caught either.

Twenty - any chance you could set Bastardface and Throatripper on her? If so, please post video on YouTube.

Nah, fuck it. Where is she? I'll do it myself.

I'm going to make a guess here and say that she has low intelligence.

We give prizes for high intelligence - medals, scholarships, fellowships, stars, etc., and we give tax breaks for low earners. However, apart from people with mental disability, we treat all people with low intelligence as though they would behave the same as everybody else.

However, people with low intelligence exist. Half the population are below average intelligence. One in ten people are barely functioning with the amount of intelligence they have. They are, no matter how much of an education they get, functionally illiterate, or nearly so (cannot deal with administration, taxation system, programming DVD machines, etc.).

If we treated earning potential the same way as intelligence, we would reward high earners with prizes, rather than increase their tax rate. How weird would that be?

If we treated intelligence the same way as we treat earning potential, then we would award scholarships and prizes to people of low intelligence. How weird would that be?

The reality is that, for the most part, we treat all people as though they had the same intellect, when it is simply not true.

I'm willing to guess that part of her problem is her intelligence. You couldn't be going on with that kind of thing if you had a brain.

Unless she is an evil genius.

You know what, I don't buy that Docky2 and normally I buy what you're selling. You don't have to be intelligent to be kind, or even to be humane. You don't have to be blessed with the smarts to know that drop kicking a cat will cause it considerable pain. No sir. It takes a certain type of person to be cruel but I'm not sure a lack of intelligence is the overriding denominator.

I used to let the budgie out and take potshots at him with airgun darts blown through a bic pen. you know like one of those Amazonian indians. Imagine my distress when I hit little Bluey killing him dead. I only JUST managed to shove him back into the cage before Mum came home from scrubbing other people's floors.

I felt a right chump I can tell you, watching her cry at his untimely death.

I knew intelligence didn't come into it. See Docky2? That type of person.

I don’t buy it either James and whilst like Miss Cat I normally appreciate what you are saying, it has little to do with intelligence and more to do with empathy and quite possibly education, I doubt she has much experience of either. Also whilst I (Apparently. Although it is debatably.) linger on the sunny side of the intelligence scale I would have absolutely no qualms about kicking her face in or indeed inflicting a great deal of pain on her!!

You're not annoying anyone, expound further at your leisure. I have yet to be annoyed by any Docky type on this blog, ever.

Blogger Andraste said...

Then there's Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences. Is Empathy an intelligence?

Docky2 may be right about this woman's lack of intelligence, but that's not the reason she did what she did.

It took a severe lack of empathy to perpetrate this kind of cruelty.

It took a severe lack of intelligence to video it, so the evidence could get in the hands of people with the power to inflict punishment.

I like your take on things Jimmy, mature and comprehensive umm hmmm. My Grandmother said you could tell a lot about a person by their attitude to animals. She used to say if they could harm an animal they’d harm a child. She also told us people who are ill to animals are sneaks, underhanded and devoid of compassion, not to be trusted nor made even the most mere an acquaintance. Fairly profound for uneducated women I’ll say.

Perhaps their generation had more sense than ours. Would she be the type to tell you, “You must have done something to annoy him/her” whilst simultaneously shoving you back out the back door should you complain that a certain dog/cat/hen/donkey etc had bitten you?

Let's see. It can't be her fault, it must be ..

- her upbringing
- she grew up in a deprived area
- her intelligence (lack of)
- poor self esteem
- society's fault for denying her opportunity
- some other cover all that allows just about anyone to avoid proper sanction for doing what the rest of us know to be wrong.

That’s the one Miss Cat, I had forgotten somewhat but that is very one indeed.
Bender it is not so much excuse making, which I hate but more of an attempt to understand the motives in such cruel behaviour. Regardless of what the reasoning they should still be subject to harsh sentencing or at the very least let me beat the shit out of them.

She should be neutered. The thought of what she did makes me feel physically sick. While it is true many people of low intelligence get their power surge from killing, maiming, bullying animals and people, etc. it is also true of some highly intelligent people. Cruelty is not exclusive to the simple minded. you only have to look at some of the despot heads of state (e.g.Africa, Iraq, Burma, China) and also some of the actions by army/prison folk to prisoners. I sincerely believe that some people are born evil. For some reason I find atrocities on dumb animals and children more sickening than on adults - something to do with their sheer helplessness and innate trust, I guess.

Sam that's an interesting piece. But sometimes I wonder at all this disorder talk. I think this little bitch needs a good swink-lop. Bender's right. Sometimes there's really just no excuse.

Shebah, we passed. And I'm completely with you on the children and animals ( and the elderly) when someone attacks the very vulnerable it sets off an inner disgust in me that is hard to stomach. There was another story in the paper today about some complete bollocks who punched an old man (96) in the head for no reason and who blinded him in doing so...I was going to blog it but it just made me too depressed.

I've stopped trying to figure out why some people are cruel - it depresses me too much to think about and I believe that to some extent it's just the nature of humanity. The world is full of examples of evil.
Nonetheless, reading about things like this makes me so furious that I lose all reason and my normal calm and peaceful self can only think that somebody should really show this bitch what pain is. I'd be willing to help.

7:46 p.m.
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yeah, well that's the frustrating bit. How can you get a person like this to feel remorse and/or to learn the meaning of empathy?
So yes, I feel blind rage at the thought of her actions, but on the same time I know that if I would ever act on a feeling of rage (God forbid I was ever to meet this creep) I would also feel that I had stooped to her level. And that would make me feel even worse.
What would you do if you were ever face to face with her, FMC - you and her alone in a room?

8:07 p.m.
Blogger fatmammycat said...

Honestly? I don't know. I think I'd ask her why she did something like that. I'd ask what made her think hurting a defenseless animal was funny. I'd try to find out what the fuck sort of way her mind worked.

Of course it is all relative. If, say, it had been Puddy she had kicked around I'd have a very different view on things and a very different solution to your question.

Many serial killers have had an above average IQ. I don't believe in a connection between the less intelligent being predisposed or more likely to commit heinous acts. The folks with the lowest IQ are often as gentle as lambs. The lack of empathy is a sign of a sociopath, a measure of someone who knows the difference between good and bad and does it anyway.

Blogger fatmammycat said...

Indeed Andraste, there would definitely be blood.
Medbh, I think you've probably hit the nail squarely on the head. You can't teach empathy, it's either there or it is not.

I still remember my bro's friend (about 12 at the time), when one of our - many - cats was killed on the road, and he wanted to jump on his dead body.

I know it wouldn't have hurt him (the cat); but still. I hated him (the friend) for years afterwards. Only later did I find out that his family were completely screwed up - not that anything awful happened to him, thankfully; but that they, as a family, simply hadn't a clue about human - or animal - relationships, and they were far the poorer for it.

Sad, sick, awful for a trusting being - and a warning for any person who is unfortunate enough to meet this excuse for a person. I try to think that it stems from being shown zero love, affection, empathy ... but I have to say, I just think she is evil incarnate.
